Dr. Jag grew up in Oakland, California, and the greater Bay Area, where her experiences navigating public schools marked by significant disparities shaped her commitment to educational equity. Those experiences inspired a vision of schools where every student experiences joy, belonging, high expectations, and meaningful opportunities to thrive.

That vision has guided Dr. Jag’s more than 25-year career in education, spanning classroom teaching, school and county office leadership, small schools and community schools design, executive coaching, and public service as an elected school board member. She has supported transformational efforts across California, from small rural districts to large urban systems.

Dr. Jag specializes in leadership development, collaborative teams, and systems transformation, helping organizations align people, structures, practices, and resources around a shared vision for powerful teaching and learning. She is the co-author of Teaching Equity-Conscious Literacy: A Framework for Design and Implementation (2027) and partners with leaders and organizations to navigate complex change and create learning environments where all students and staff thrive.

Dr. Jag holds a doctorate and master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Mills College, a master’s degree in Special Education from National University, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Jag enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
